passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at her home in Poulsbo, Washington with her loving family by her side. She was 90 years of age and a longtime resident of Poulsbo.Louise was born on March 16, 1917 in Seattle, Washington to William Swinton Mangrum and Janet Pearson Broadfoot Mangrum. She moved to Poulsbo 67 years ago.She graduated from The University of Washington where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. Louise was a member of The First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo and gave of her time to the altar guild and the quilters group. She retired from the North Kitsap School District where she worked in the payroll department.Louise was a giver of herself and her time, she preferred working behind the scenes with the service she gave. She loved her family and friends dearly.Louise is survived by her children; Judith Louise Shields Fuhrer (Kenneth) of Poulsbo, WA, James Edward Shields, Jr. (Ginger) of Poulsbo, WA and David Gordon Shields (Karen) of Bremerton, WA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Patrick Fuhrer (Isla), Kristin Colburn, Liesl Lewis (John), Christopher Fuhrer, James Edward Shields III (Becky), Kristal Sagdahl (Ray), Clinton Shields and Kris Mitchell (Tamira) and great-grandchildren Maxwell, Mitchell and Mason, Brenden, Gavin, Jack and Ellie.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Captain James Edward Shields in 2002, her brother Lt. General Richard C. Mangrum in 1985 and her sister Evelyn Mangrum Bleyhl in 1971.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 3:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo, 18920 4th Avenue NE. A reception will follow in the church hall.Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children www.shrinershq.org, Hospice of Kitsap County or First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo. Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
