passed away on Friday, April 6, 2007 at his home on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was 85 years of age.Jay Gage died peacefully at his Bainbridge Island home on April 6, 2007. Born in Seattle, he graduated from Lincoln High School and was an Eagle Scout. He served as a meteorologist in the Coast Guard during World War II. His distinguished career in the salmon industry included posts at Whiz Fish Products Company, New England Fish Company and Peter Pan Seafoods. He served as President of the National Canners Association, and was Trustee of St Paul Island, Alaska. He belonged to Grace Episcopal Church, the Harbor Club, and Wing Point Country Club.His wife Barbara died in 1999. He is survived by a son, Robert Gage, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, a daughter, Marilyn Lewis, of Newport Pagnell, England, and a grand daughter, Helen Lewis, of Durham, England.There will be a requiem Eucharist at Grace Church at 11 am on Wednesday, April 11th (map). Family flowers only. Contributions in Mr. Gage's memory may be sent to Grace Episcopal Church, 8595 East Day Road, Bainbridge Island 98110.Arrangements are pending through Cook Family Funeral Home.
