passed away May 8, 2014 at Harrison Hospital after a long and debilitating illness. She was born to Joseph G. and Goldie Woodward on January 5, 1947 and lived, with her parents and sisters, many places in the U.S. and overseas as the family followed the career of her Dad, an Army officer. She graduated from Southern Oregon University in Education and pursued a career in hotel and restaurant management before moving to Suquamish in 1985.She worked for a number of years at Kiana Lodge where she managed the catering of hundreds of events working with her team of teenage helpers whom she remembered fondly. She also worked on the Island at Berry Daycare and later at Skookum where she made beautiful displays, kept the backroom flowing smoothly and every Halloween donned her magnificent and scary Wizard costume to entertain Island children as they visited the merchants for Trick or Treat.Strikingly tall and witty, she is remembered by friends and colleagues for keeping us all laughing. Her other great pleasure was animals and her much loved dogs. She is survived by Judy Smith, her dear friend of 44 years with whom she shared her home the last 15 years of her life. She is also survived by her sisters Ann Candioto and Jo Palin.Services will be private. Any remembrances should go to an animal charity. Her cremated remains will rest next to her parents at Kane Cemetery, Port Madison. Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
