passed away peacefully Sunday morning Jan 20th, at a retirement home in Sammamish, WA.Born in Minnesota and raised on a farm in Canada, John worked in the rough-and-tumble logging camps of northern Saskatchewan before moving to Port Orchard, WA in 1946 at age 22.He owned and operated a Chevron gas station in down town Port Orchard with his brother Elmer. He later went on to work 18 years on the Kitsap County road crew, retiring in 1986.In 1951 John married Germaine Lambert, whom he cherished. She preceded him in death 3 years ago. They raised two children, Denise (Jim) Craswell of Sammamish and Kurt Bauer of Port Orchard. He is survived by his children, 8 grandchildren, and a sister Kay, who resides in California.John played for years in a local country western band, "Country Playboys." John served as an Usher for over 30 years at St Gabriel Catholic Church.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the recitation of the Rosary at 12 noon and Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard Washington. A reception at the church will follow the Mass. Graveside services will begin at 3 PM at Sunset Sunset Lane memorial Park in Port Orchard.
