a wonderful father, an extraordinary businessman, and loving husband died September 25, 2012. He was 62.Mr. Faltermeier's character was exemplified by his long and courageous struggle with ocular melanoma. He told all physicians that he had a "no whining policy" and said his disease gave him the opportunity to be thankful and become closer to his family and friends. He fought his disease as aggressively as possible - enrolling in clinical trial programs across the country. Determined to improve cancer treatment for other patients, Mr. Faltermeier used his financial expertise to raise money for multiple cancer research programs.Mr. Faltermeier lived his life by setting goals and achieving them. He had high standards for himself, graduating with a B.A. (Cum Laude) in mathematics from Syracuse University and earning a MBA and class valedictorian from the University of California Irvine Business School. Recently, Mr. Faltermeier worked as a financial advisor at Goldman Sachs. He loved his clients and colleagues. His outlook - his way of turning difficult situations into positive ones - made many individuals come to him not only for financial help, but also for help with personal struggles as well.Mr. Faltermeier's life was beautiful and full of passion because he made it that way. Every fall he planted 2,000 tulips in his garden for his family and neighbors to enjoy each spring. He captured nature behind the lens, and spent the last few years traveling the United States and Europe taking pictures of wildlife. Mr. Faltermeier was an accomplished cook, and earned a reputation as being the "king of barbeque." Preparing meals for his family, neighbors and friends, was a way in which Mr. Faltermeier enjoyed contributing to the happiness of others.Mr. Faltermeier's first priority was always his family. He provided his three daughters, Brooke, Christen and Claire, the means and guidance to pursue their dreams and goals.He cherished 32 years of marriage with his wife, and best friend, Carole. Spending time with his son-in laws, Andrew and Mathieu, and grandchildren, Annie and William always gave Mr. Faltermeier a reason for celebration.Mr. Faltermeier will be missed immensely, however he will continue to be an example for so many of an extraordinary man who brought meaning, love and joy to his own life and the lives of others.A memorial service/celebration of life will be held Friday, October 5th at The Manor House (4738 Lynwood Center Road NE, Bainbridge Island) at 5:00pm.
