passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Island Health and Rehabilitation on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was born on December 8, 1929 in Iquitos, Peru to his parents Manuel Ruiz and Rosamira Reategui Ruiz. He was 82 years of age.Juan served in the Peruvian Air force as a waren officer and retired after 25 years of service. He played tennis for the Peruvian Tennis Federacion from 1950-1960. He belonged to the Lawn Tennis of the Exposicion in Lima where he ranked #2 in the National Tennis Championship in 1960 in singles and doubles. He was a workaholic, loving father and devoted to his family. He loved soccer but his passion was tennis. He started playing tennis when he was 8 years old and only stopped four years ago when his legs started to bother him. He lived in Miami Florida for many years and played tennis all year round. He gave tennis lessons. In 1972 he took a course to be a tennis coach in Washington D.C. where he met Arthur Ash. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and action movies.He loved gathering with friends and family. He missed his wife Aida who preceded him in death. Juan is survived by his sister Rosita Ruiz of Peru, daughter Rossana Muir (Shawn) of Bainbridge Island, granddaughters Sarah and Catherine Muir of Bainbridge and many nieces and nephews in Peru, Venezuela, the United States, Canada and Spain. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Luis Ruiz and his wife.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 9:00 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island.
