Katherine Marie Mortell-Gaff

Katherine Marie Mortell - Gaff, 92, of Mesa, Arizona passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022. Born in Aberdeen, Washington she was the daughter of the late William E. and Katherine M. (Meese) Fickeisen.

Katherine graduated high school in Washington and worked in the Insurance Industry as an Underwriter.

In 1945, at the age of 16 Katherine married Robert Mortell. Robert and Katherine had 2 children; Robert Mortell, Jr., and his wife Ruby of Bellevue and Mary Kay Handley of Poulsbo. In addition, they also had 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Sadly, after 54 years of marriage, Robert passed away in 1999. Katherine later met and married Raymond Gaff and they would spend her final years together.

In addition to her husband Robert, Katherine was preceded in death by her brother William Fickeisen, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 9 to 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church 1310 Madison Avenue N., Bainbridge Island followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. The interment will be made at the First Lutheran Church of Poulsbo Cemetery on Friday at 11:45 am.

In Katherine's memory donations are requested to be made to Lady of the Lake Church 8900 35th Avenue NE Seattle, WA 98115.
