Kathryn Alice Matteson

Kathryn Alice Matteson, 48, of Bainbridge Island, WA., passed away quietly surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 26, 2020. Born in Los Angeles, California she was the daughter of Gary Neil Cox and Susan Alice (Griep) Fairmont.

Kathryn, who earned her Master's and PhD in Human Development, was a talented woman who enjoyed music. She was an accomplished Musician and Pianist enjoying various styles of music all of which she passed on to her 4 children. As a young mother, she auditioned and ultimately performed in theatre on Broadway after being chosen for just a couple of spots over hundreds of performers.

As her family grew, Kathryn decided to become Mom full time and raise her family, sharing her talents with them and teaching all of her children to play piano along with other instruments. When Kathryn became ill, her children would gather together with their different instruments and play her favorite songs to bring her comfort. She was also a dedicated member of the Church of Christ, Scientists.

In addition to her beloved husband Kirk, Kathryn is survived by her 4 adoring children Porter, Elliot, Cascade, and Sage, her loving Mother Susan and her brother Kevin.

Services and interment will be private at the convenience of Kathryn's family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, Wa.
