85, died December 11, 2007. Laure was born July 6, 1922 in Lorient, France, the only child of Julius Emile and Gabrielle (Hebben) Vandeleene. The Vandeleenes immigrated to the United States in 1923.Laure grew up in Chicago and attended Mundelein College. In 1945 she met Sergeant George Walter Steinmann (Cincinnati, OH) at the Hines, IL Veterans Administration Hospital where she served as a "Gray Lady" volunteer. They married in 1948 and moved to Albuquerque, NM, where George graduated from the University of New Mexico. They later moved to Davenport, IA where Laure graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in 1962. Upon her graduation, Laure, George and their three children moved to Cincinnati where she set up her chiropractic practice. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1968.Laure was a member of the Congregational churches in her communities and active in their women's groups. She was an Election Precinct Board worker for Pima County, AZ and active in her children's activities, including 4H and Girl Scouts. After moving to Bainbridge Island in 1999, she initiated and facilitated a local Parkinson's support group during 2000-2001.Laure is survived by her daughters, Ivy Stevens (Bruce) of Bainbridge Island, WA, Holly Pleiter (Jack) of Paradise Valley, AZ, and three grandchildren, Robert Stevens, Christopher Pleiter and Katherine Pleiter. She was preceded in death by her son, George Rene, in 1965, and her husband in 1983.A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
