Our mom was adored by so many in our community and in turn, community meant so much to her. She possessed a gift, a way of being genuinely warm, kind, and curious about everyone she came to know. Delight followed her sense of humor and good cheer. She had endless enthusiasm about the world and travel.
She fully enjoyed her years as Blakely Elementary School secretary and so valued all who worked there and was a gentle ally for the students.
She then commuted into Seattle and her co-workers at Seafirst Bank and fellow commuters became a special part of her world.
She held dear a childhood friendship of 85 years and maintained lively communication with a group of high school girlfriends.
She delighted in her book group who met together for 25 years and she so cherished and appreciated each of her fellow readers. She also met regularly for several years with another group for coffee and just loved every moment.
She volunteered for years at the Bargain Boutique in Winslow on Bainbridge Is and proceeds benefit Seattle Children's Hospital.
Her involvement with the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church is a highlight and she so treasured the company of all who attend.
She approached life with a sense of ease and good fun. She gracefully flowed with the burdensome changes related to aging with amazing acceptance, spunk, and courage. She made the world a better place.
She was affectionately known as Nonie and we all, in her family, treasure her as the best possible mom, aunt, in-law, grandma, and great-grandma we could imagine.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
