after a long battle with cancer, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on September 19, 2010. She was born in Tacoma, WA on February 20, 1932 to Pearl Brantner Secreto and James Secreto. Lois absolutely loved dancing, and beginning at the early age of 5, she played the accordion and tap danced on stages throughout the Northwest. Lois's penchant for performing led into ice-skating, where she eventually competed nationally. After high school, Lois joined the Ice Follies and traveled with them for two years before coming home to marry Jim Schoettler, her high school sweetheart. They were married on November 22, 1952 in Tacoma, WA, and together they raised three children, Steve, John and Carolyn.Lois was an avid athlete and loved many sports activities, and she excelled at anything she put her mind to. Whether it was skating, snow and water skiing, horseback riding, tennis, fishing and sailing, she was a natural. Lois was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. She spent much of her life on the water, so she was delighted when she and Jim retired in Suquamish, WA on Port Madison Bay. Lois certainly loved and was devoted to her children and grandchildren, and she especially enjoyed being involved with their many and varied sports activities. Besides raising a family, Lois wanted to serve God, and she joined the Altar Guild at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo, serving for several years before her illness; she loved the Martha Circle at First Lutheran as well. In addition to Lois's dedication to her family and church, she and Jim also found time for extensive travel abroad and to Hawaii.Lois Jean Schoettler leaves behind a loving family. She is survived by her husband Jim, son Steve and daughter-in-law Sue, son John, daughter Carolyn Eley and son-in-law Keith, and her grandchildren Sarah Schoettler, Erin Eley, David Schoettler, Julie Schoettler, Zachary Eley and Michael Schoettler.
