passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at her home on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Lori was born in Montclair, New Jersey. She lived on Bainbridge Island for the past 7 years. Prior to coming to Bainbridge Island, Lori lived in Florida, California and Denver, Colorado.Lori graduated from Tulane University with a B.A. in chemistry. Her occupation was in environmental chemistry and she was employed for many years with URS Consultants both in Denver and Seattle. Her concern for improving the environment included; managing Superfund clean-up sites, volunteering at Islandwood, and contributing actively to Sierra Club and Greenpeace, even when their views conflicted with her consulting work with the Environmental Protection Agency. During the sixties, Lori participated in anti-war and civil rights marches. She was an active Democrat and campaigned for McGovern, Carter, Clinton and pretty much anyone who wasn't a Republican. She spoke freely about her political views, which, when she wasn't playing the devil's advocate, were decidedly liberal. She was on the Board of Directors for the home association at Chatham Cove, was active in the cancer support group on Bainbridge, volunteered as an usher for various theater organizations, and met weekly with her local book club. A major part of her life also included music. When she wasn't listening to NPR, she was singing along with one of her many records or CD's. Lori began singing chorale in Denver and later joined the Bainbridge Chorale where she was an alto up until the last few months of her life. A Quaker service will be held at Seabold Hall, 14454 Komedal Road, Bainbridge from 2-3:30P Sunday, June 15th. http://www.quaker.org/agate-passage.
