assed away peacefully in her sleep on May 27th, 2015. She was living at the time near her son in Poulsbo, Washington.She was born in Lansing on February 19th, 1932 the daughter of Guy C. Shumway and Margaret R. Arbaugh, and the sister of Frank A. Shumway who passed away in 2014. She Grew up in the stone house her father built on the Grand River at 4 Locust Lane.Louise's family remembers her with great affection as a good and loving mother, a caring and loving member of her extended family, and as a spirited woman who loved travel, playing golf, photography and just being outdoors. She loved all animals, both wild and tame.Her son fondly remembers, among many other things, the hours spent with her on the golf course, the cursing after a bad shot, and especially her voluminous full throated laughter which could be heard at great distances.Louise is survived by her son David Roe of Bainbridge Island, Washington; David's wife Sarah; and two Grandchildren Kelsey Roe and Ellis Roe.Many thanks to Louise's nephew, Jim Shumway and his wife Janet; her neighbors Sarah and Gary Stroik her cousin, Rick Foster and his wife Gretchen; her other Timber Ridge neighbors; and many others, for all their help during Louise's last years in East Lansing. Special thanks also to the caregivers' and staff at The Harbor House memory unit within the Liberty Shores Assisted Living facility in Poulsbo, Washington where Louise spent her last two years, for their excellent care and friendship.Remembrances can be made to the Little Traverse Conservancy, 3264 Powell Road, Harbor Springs, Michigan 49740.
