ended his battle with cancer on October 10, 2010. Loyal was born on April 15, 1931 at Hollywood Hospital in Glendale, CA to Emil & Sena (Myreboe) Edgren. He moved to Poulsbo in 1938, and graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1949 and later Western Washington College with a degree in Education. Loyal married Patricia (Acheson) on September 20, 1952 in Kent, WA, just before he left for service in the Army during the Korean War. After serving in the Army, Loyal was a schoolteacher for 8 years before he began his career in insurance. He and his wife Pat owned and operated Edgren Insurance Agency for 35 years. He received Safeco's Award of Excellence for nearly 2 decades before retiring in 1998. Loyal was a member of First Lutheran Church and was active in the Poulsbo Noon Lion's Club, Poulsbo Volunteer Fire Dept. & Ambulance, American Legion, Sons of Norway, and Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce. He loved spending his free time in the outdoors fishing, skiing, golfing, camping and hunting with his family. Until his final days, he was still finishing his daily crossword puzzles in record time each morning and cooking the best dinners on Lemolo Shore each night.Loyal's smile, his larger-than-life personality that matched his height, his enthusiasm for living, and his dedication to his family stood out to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 58 years, Patricia; his children Christine (Howard) Kreps of White Salmon, WA and Brian (Cathy) Edgren of Poulsbo; and his 3 grandchildren, Aaron Kreps, Kelsey Edgren, and Eric Edgren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Loyal's memory to First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:00am at First Lutheran Church. A reception will follow at the church.
