Maria Soriano Tabafunda

Maria Tabafunda Island, Washington. She was born on May 12, 1916 in the Philippines and was 93 years of age. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island and The Filipino Community. When Maria arrived to Bainbridge with her husband they made a historic mark as the first Filipino married couple to arrive Bainbridge Island. Her passions were farming animals, vegetables and berries; and taking care of her family.Maria is survived by her children; Linda and Bobby Tabafunda, also her grandchildren Diony Garcia, Ronnie Garcia, Patrick Garcia, Melanie Elenez and Bob Tabafunda. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Janeen, Jade and Justina Garcia; Devin Maama, Dylan and Dustin Garcia; Savannah Bogan, Isabelle and Jayden Elenez and Evan Garcia. Maria was preceded in death by her husband Gualverto Tabafunda in 1991. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 5-7 PM, and the Rosary at 7 PM, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow at Seabold Cemetery on Bainbridge Island.A reception will be held following graveside services at The Suquamish Community House, 7235 NE Parkway, Suquamish, WA 98392.
