passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington. She was 92 years old.Elaine was born on July 13, 1922 in Ballard, Washington to Norwegian immigrants, Herman and Helga Solheim. She attended Adams Grade School and graduated from Ballard High School in 1940. Her life's work included being in the US Navy and Coast Guard. She also worked as an executive in telecommunications at the Presidio in San Francisco. After retiring, she moved to Suquamish, Washington. Here, she was vice president of Suquamish Village Square which was founded by her brother, Karsten Solheim also founder of PING golf club manufacturing in Phoenix, AZ. At the Square, she ran the world famous Karsten's Fine Dining, Suquamish Hardware and Gift Shop. Elaine was devoted to her brother, Karsten.Elaine enjoyed traveling in her motorhome, shopping and dining out, driving her Cadillac's, bowling and golfing in her younger years. She always excelled in everything she tried.Elaine is survived by her sister Marjorie, niece Nancy and nephew Paul and his children and grandchildren of Suquamish, WA, sister-in-law Louise Solheim and her children and grandchildren of Phoenix, AZ and many, many friends.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Port Madison Lutheran Church, located at 14000 North Madison on Bainbridge Island.
