was born in Grand Forks, ND May 8, 1914. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Messenger House Care Center on Bainbridge Island. She was 94 years old.As a young girl she and her father and grandparents moved from Wolf Point, Montana to the Pasadena area of California where she lived until 1949. She moved to Bainbridge Island then, where she met and married Capt. Edward K. Lofgren. They were layer divorced.In the late 50's she attended Olympic College and received her LPN nursing degree. She then worked at Bainbridge Sanitarium, Mary and Martha nursing home and Ebenezer Rest Home where she became the supervisor. She retired and worked part time at Messenger House as a nurse then moved to the medical records dept. where she continued to work until she was 82 years old.She had many creative outlets that included singing in the Bainbridge Chorale, playing the piano and writing poetry. She won two awards for her poetry and had one published in a book of poems a few years ago. When she was in her eighties she wrote her life story on her computer, scanned family pictures and had it printed and bound at the age of 91. She was a member of the Franciscan Order The Little Sisters of St. Clare. Marion was well known for her kind and loving spirit.She is survived by many friends and family, her son Edward Jon Lofgren (wife Catherine Lofgren and son Fraser Soderstrom) daughter Linda Lofgren Hebert, granddaughter Darby Hebert.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2:00 PM at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church on Bainbridge Island, Washington. [Directions]. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place at Island Center Cemetery.
