Mary Jane Mong

passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at The Hospice of Kitsap County Care Center in Bremerton, Washington. She was born on June 21, 1915 in Edison, Washington and was 93 years of age.Mary had moved from Bow, Washington and lived in the Kitsap County area for the past 21 years. She was a member of the Poulsbo First Lutheran Church and Edison Lutheran Church in Bow. Mary was married to Harold Mong in 1936, helping on a dairy farm for over 51 years. After raising her family, she earned a nursing degree and worked in the medical field. They moved to Poulsbo in 1987 to be near their children and grandchildren. Mary volunteered at Martha and Mary Health Care Services and the Fishline House. She was always eager to help others. Mary enjoyed gardening, RV travel, music, knitting and her family.She is survived by her children, Doug Mong and his wife Le Ann and Mary Beth Olsen. She also leaves behind her sister Ina Radel and her husband Orville. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001 and her siblings Ivan Leatherwood and Ruth Doxsee, also her son in-law Dan Olsen. There are four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Graveside Service on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM at The First Lutheran Church Cemetery, 18920 4th Avenue NE in Poulsbo.
