Mary was born in Hibbing, Minnesota on February 16, 1930. She attended the Catholic parochial school through eighth grade and Hibbing High School until graduation. Mary married Thomas Krmpotich of Chisholm, Minnesota in October , 1950. They moved to Seattle in 1951, where Mary worked for Safeco Insurance for many years.

Tom was a co-founder of the Seattle Junior Tamburitzans and its musical director for many years. He was a gifted musician and a wonderful uncle. Mary was also proficient with the piano and accordion as well as having perfect pitch. She and Tom played together with the Tamburitzans and a small family group. As part of the Tamburitzans they traveled and played throughout the Pacific Northwest and in Croatia. Tom passed away in 1989.

After Tom’s death, Mary reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Dario Monti, also of Hibbing, Minnesota. Following Dario’s first wife’s death, he traveled around the US,reacquainting himself with friends of days gone by. One of these visits was to Mary. After a long distance courtship they married in July of 1992. They first lived in Maryland, Dario’s

home, but soon moved back to Seattle. Dario’s working career included stints at 3M, the Department of Energy, and a very early EPA, working with William Ruckelshaus.

They had a busy life together, traveling the USA, Italy and Israel. Dario passed away in 2004. Mary was preceded in death by: her parents, Alec and Agnes Munter of Hibbing, Minnesota; and her siblings Dorothy Maciejko, Bernard Munter, and David Munter. Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews scattered throughout Washington, Oregon and Minnesota, as well as Dario’s family.

After Dario’s death, Mary moved to Poulsbo, Washington to be near other family members living there. She was an active member of St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Her nieces and nephews in the Poulsbo area had the pleasure of her

presence for sixteen years before her passing. She was a loving and gentle woman and will be missed by all who knew her.
