Mary Louise Fiander passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Washington at age 81. She was born on February 25, 1928 and has lived happily on Bainbridge Island since 1974. Mary Lou attended the University of Washington where she met her husband Bill Fiander. They embraced their passions of skiing and sailing together and with their five children. Mary Lou was known for her variety of projects and hobbies. She was a master bridge player and was the director of the bridge program at the Bainbridge Island Senior Center. She was a talented seamstress and wonderful cook and applied these skills to creating a variety of novel gifts to which her children and grandchildren looked forward to receiving each year. She never stopped learning and was always willing to take on something new. Whether it was her hobby of gardening orchids, expanding her sewing skills through the use of advanced computer technology or researching the family genealogy. She loved sharing these passions and incredible knowledge with her family and friends. Family was the center of Mary Lou's life. She will be loved and missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, dog Casey and her community of friends. We will remember her for her passion, strong sense of self and unconditional love. Mary Lou is survived by her sons Murray (JoAnne), Bruce (Kathy) and Killorne (Kelly), daughters Barbara and Sabrina (Pete). As well as her Grandchildren Mina, Justin, Samantha, Patrick, Alexa, Morgan, Shannon, Owen and Audrey. She also leaves behind her Great Grandchildren Caleb and Arabella. Family and friends are respectfully invited to atttend the Memorial Service on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 12:30 PM at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church on Bainbridge lsland. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bainbridge Island Senior Center, Harrison Hospital of Bremerton, WA or The American Cancer Society.
