was born in Indianapolis on October 31, 1913, the first child of John J Flaherty and Margaret F Landers. She graduated cum laude from St. Agnes Academy (Indianapolis)in 1932. Helping to support her parents during the Depression and WWII, she worked for Diamond Chain Co. before she married Maj. George T. Buchmeier in 1946. As an Air Force Officer's Wife, she was active in community building and charities as she raised her five children. She established homes for her family at Hamilton Field CA; Fairchild AFB, Spokane WA; Portland OR; Tachikawa AFB, Tokyo; Norton AFB, San Bernardino CA; Oxon Hill, MD; and Bellevue WA.After educating her own children, she realized her dream of higher education. Graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in History and a Teaching degree, she taught High School in Bellevue during the 1970's and 80's.She was active in her Parish of St. Louise de Merillac, Bellevue, WA, caring for the Altar and serving funeral repasts. After George and Mary Margaret moved to Providence Point in Issaquah WA, they were active at Mary Queen of Peace Parish in Sammamish WA. After 58 years of Marriage, George Buchmeier, passed in 2004, but she stayed at Providence Point, close to her wonderful friends and neighbors. Mary Margaret passed peacefully in her sleep at the home of her Son Karl on December 28, 2013. Her oldest son George Gregory Buchmeier passed in 2011.She is survived by her son Karl Buchmeier and his wife Pam, of Bainbridge WA; son Pete Buchmeier and his wife Jennifer, of Loveland CO; daughter Margaret Sobota and husband Gary, of Camano WA,and Rev. Robert Buchmeier, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church, La Plata MD. She loved her grandchildren Tyson, Megan, Rachel, Ashley, and Kayla very much.Her beauty, grace and love touched many lives and she will be in our hearts always.For those interested in attending her memorial service it will be held as follows: Date: Monday January 13th at noonPlace: Mary Queen of Peace Address: 1121 228th Ave. SE Sammamish, WA.Lunch will be served following the service.In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to Kitsap Hospice or to Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
