Maurine Akers Ross

born on August 23, 1908 near Pendleton, Oregon, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Harborview Medical Center of congestive heart failure. She was 98 years old. Maurine grew up in Pendleton but spent most of her adult years in Portland, Oregon as a commercial artist for Ross Advertising. Eventually she married the owner, Laurie Ross, her second husband, and when he died in the fifties she continued to run the agency for many years. After retirement she expanded her pen and ink newspaper artistic talents to painting lovely watercolors. In 1987 she moved to Bainbridge Island to be near her daughter, Betty Wyatt and granddaughter, Chris Wyatt, and across the Sound her grandson, Scott Wyatt.Other beloved descendants and family members include granddaughters-in-law Rochelle Wyatt and Linette Wyatt, great-grandsons Aaron Wyatt and wife Casey and Todd Wyatt and wife Kim. She also had two young great-great grandchildren, Ava and Rogan.Maurine enjoyed living the last twenty years on the Island playing in bridge foursomes and at Tuesday senior bridge at the Commons- and painting.There will be no memorial service, but should a memorial wish to be given, she would want it to go to PAWS.
