MICHAEL LAIRD LOGAN
March 20, 1937 - April 4, 2020
Michael Laird Logan was born on March 20, 1937 in Glendale, California. He passed
away on April 4, 2020 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 83 from complications after a
surgical procedure. His home was on Bainbridge Island where he had lived for twenty-three
years.
Michael attended Glendale High School and graduated from Occidental
College in 1959. He participated in Track & Field at Occidental and still holds the record
in a hurdle competition. He was a teacher with the Los Angeles School District for more than
30 years and also coached many high school sports teams during that time. He enjoyed
traveling and was a licensed pilot and glider pilot.
Upon retirement he and his wife, Garnet, moved to Bainbridge Island in
Washington. They were both involved in volunteering activities including Helpline, Hospice of
Kitsap County, the Track & Field program at Bainbridge High School and were members of
St. Cecelia's Church.
He was preceded in death by his only brother Patrick Brice Logan in 2010, his beloved
Garnet in 2016 and his niece Erin Renshaw in December 2019. He is survived by
his nieces Jana (Jim) Hanson and Dana Logan, a step-daughter Trang (Sean) Luong, a
step-son Chris (Marisa) Acuna and five Grandnephews and Grandnieces.
A Memorial Service at St. Cecilia Church will be forthcoming hopefully in the Fall of
this year. Donations in Michael's memory may be made to the FISHLINE Food Bank in
Poulsbo, Washington.
