Nancy Gifford Watson

of Bainbridge Island died peacefully at her home on April 22nd after a graceful and courageous fight with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Peter, son, Alex of Honolulu, and daughter, Hilary of Seattle, her mother and father, Barbara and Chandler Gifford, and her two brothers, Peter and Ben, all of Concord, Massachusetts. A native New Englander with deep roots in Concord and Duxbury, Massachusetts, Nancy was born in 1951 and moved to Bainbridge Island in 1973 to begin her married life. She loved Bainbridge's natural beauty and appreciated the communal harmony of its diverse population.Nancy received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington in 1982. Her family and friends will remember her as a devoted wife, loving mother, and artist. Her gentle spirit, attention to detail and love of nature will live on in her friendships and artwork.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Bainbridge Land Trust. A celebration of Nancy's life will be announced in the near future.
