Orlene Lamont, 82, of Suquamish died Friday at Franciscan Hospice House.
She was born August 22, 1940, in Tacoma, Washington, to Levi A. Lamont Jr. of Tulalip and Evelyn V. George of Suquamish.
She lived in Vancouver, Washington in her early teen years then moved to Silverdale, Washington and graduated from Central Kitsap High School Class of 1959. She was part of the Pep Club, the Paddle Squad, the Junior Red Cross, and GAA sports for girls.
She played on the state champion, Bremerton Blue Jackets Women’s Softball Slow-pitch team in the 1960 era.
She joined the Army on October 31, 1962, she was 22 and proudly served with the Women’s Army Corps (WAC). She was honorably discharged on February 28, 1966.
She enjoyed her time on her property gardening and with her small farm animals. She truly loved her little Chihuahua, Harley. She also spoke of the moments she was a teacher for preschool-age kids at the old white building on the slab that was also used as a church. She had a voice for her beliefs and would not sit quietly even if it was family. She partook in many marches for justice and voice for change.
Survived by, family friend Doug Janke, sister Joanne Collins (Arnold), two brothers James Armstrong (Lois), and Bennie Armstrong and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death, by long-term companion Esther Torres Romero, her parents Levi A Lamont Jr and Evelyn V. Armstrong, and brothers Robert G. Lamont and John E. Armstrong. Her grandparents Bennie
and Martha George.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island.
