passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at her home in Poulsbo, Washington. She was 68 years of age.Pat was born on July 4, 1944 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Fred and Ellen Thebert. She moved to Michigan until the age of seven and then onto the Seattle area, finally settling in Buckley in 1959. She lived on a farm and loved riding her horse Ginger. She competed in several horse racing events and at one time held the state record in the keyhole race. After graduating from White River High School with honors in 1962, she went to nursing school at St Francis Cabrini Hospital in Seattle. After working as an RN in the Seattle for a short time, she joined the Army and served in Germany, Vietnam and Japan.While serving in Vietnam she was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease and was given a medical discharge with 60 per cent disability. Moving to the San Francisco area in the early 1970's she became involved in the leather craft and jewelry retail business. In a few years she moved to the Kitsap County area and in 1978 she met Darryl through a mutual friend and they were married on Valentines Day 1981.Pat loved her German Shepherd dogs, spending many hours training and showing them in competition obedience and tracking. She also gave pet obedience classes to many students at her training building. Salmon fishing, in the 80's and 90's at Pillar Point in their 19ft boat was highlighted by her being top catcher many times.In the last fifteen years, as the disease progressed, driving in their motorhome enabled Pat to enjoy many trips to the Washington and Oregon coasts, Columbia River gorge, Wenatchee and Port Townsend.Pat was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Carol, a brother Ralph and is survived by her husband Darryl, two German Shepherd dogs, Libby and Kuma, brothers Fred and Phil and a sister Liz. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations to The German Shepherd Rescue in care of Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue or Kitsap County Humane Society Spay and Neuter clinic. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. Interment will be private at the First Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
