was born on March 28, 1936 in Glendale, California. His life-time career in Track and Field began at Glendale High School and flourished at Occidental College from 1954-1959. Pat received his Masters of Education degree from San Jose State College. He married Julia Ann Denman in 1960 and they moved shortly thereafter to the community of La Canada Flintridge in California where he began teaching International Studies and was an Assistant Coach at La Canada High School. With the encouragement of his wife, Ann, he accepted the position of head coach of the Cross-Country team in 1971 and to the amazement of many in the community won the CIF title that very same year. For the next 25 years, his teams ran off with 30 League titles and 2 CIF Championships. His impressive combined record over those years was 348 wins and 41 losses including a perfect Home Record in Boys Track. It was during the summers of these years that he began to travel in Europe and "fell in love" with Austria. He continued to return to the beautiful Lake area south of Salzburg for the rest of his life. After the loss of his beloved wife in 1991, Pat retired and made the decision to move to the Northwest. In 1993, Pat and Cindy were married in Los Angeles and moved the following year to their present home on Bainbridge Island. Missing his association with Track and Field, he volunteered at Bainbridge High School and this began another successful involvement in his favorite sport. Many of the individuals and relay teams he coached placed in the top three of the State finals every year. His Passion, Commitment, Integrity and Inspiration are legend with his teams, his friends and the community.
