died 29th March 2009 at the Island Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born 17 June 1925, Los Angeles, California, the son of Frank and Bee McClurkin Amis. Paul served as a radioman in the US Navy, South Pacific, World War II. He attended West Coast University, College of Engineering, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1951. He retired as Assistant Chief Design Engineer for Electrical and Electronics Engineering in the Pacific Division, Puget Sound Navel Shipyard, Bremerton, 1981.Paul is survived by his wife, Dorothy. He was her love and companion of 43 years. From a previous marriage he has a son, Matthew V. Amis (Kelly) and a daughter, Paula Amis.He was known for his wit in speech and letters but was a man of many talents. He was a life-long "Ham" radio operator - W7RGL, a gourmet cook, stained glass window creator, carpenter, and gardener. He also raised chickens which he called "the girls." Paul's delight was the ten Welsh Corgis. He was often seen walking a trio on Ferncliff Ave.Cremation and burial at Port Blakely Cemetery is under the care of the Cook Family Funeral Home.There will be no Memorial Service. Any personal remembrance may be given to the Salvation Army or Disabled Veterans.
