of Bainbridge Island,WA died on Tuesday March 21, 2017 at The Ridge in Silverdale,WA.He was born on February 15, 1943 in northern CA. He attended San Mateo High School where he met his wife to be Ronni Zemel (Fallows). He then attended University of California, Berkeley and did his professional study of dentistry at Northwestern University in Chicago IL. He and Ronni were married in 1964 in San Mateo, CA. They have two sons, Scott and Keith.He served as a dentist in the USPHS, division of Indian Health Services from 1966 until 1969 in Fort Defiance, AZ and Taos, NM. They returned to Saratoga, CA in 1969, with Scott (born in 1968) and Rich practiced Dentistry in until 1992. Keith was born in 1970.Richard was dedicated to providing the best possible care for his patients at all times. He had an extensive list of jokes that he generously shared with his patients and a very well developed sense of humor. He served on numerous Boards in the Saratoga area and was an Examiner for the State Board of Dental Examiners. Upon his retirement from Dentistry in 1992, he worked for and was on the Board of U.S.Cotton Inc. in NM. He and Ronni lived in Santa Fe, NM from 1992 until moving to Bainbridge Island, WA in 2004.In 2008 he was diagnosed with probable Alzheimer's and struggled with the disease until his death. Rich was a very special soul, who touched all who came to know him. He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Ronni (Bainbridge Island, WA), his son Scott and grandchildren Jai and Leela (Bayfield, CO), son Keith, his wife Susie, his grandsons Aden and Luca (Whidbey Island, WA). Rich loved sharing his passions for sailing, skiing, horseback, and hiking with family and friends. In July a memorial service will be held in WA to celebrate his beautiful life.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on July 16, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Kiana Lodge in Suquamish, Washington.In remembrance, please support the Alzheimer's Association National Board Longest Day Team in Rich's name at: www.act.alz.org...Please click here!.
