Richard Alan Sturdivant

December 17, 1957 — March 30, 2020

Richard Alan Sturdivant, 62, of Bremerton, WA., passed away quietly on Monday, March 30, 2020, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, WA. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of Donald L. and Shirley A. (Firth) Sturdivant.

Richard grew up in Warren Grove, NJ during where he joined and excelled in wrestling and soccer.

A United States Navy Veteran, Richard served 4 years as a Parachute Rigger (1978-1982), with over 3 years aboard Naval Aircraft Carriers. He also supported NASA and the Space Shuttle program as a parachute rigger for the shuttle booster rockets.

Richard later became an independent construction contractor in Florida, Colorado, and Washington. His work would lead him to participate in the recovery and rebuilding efforts in Homestead, Florida after Hurricane Andrew in 1992. As time went on, Richard settled in the Puget Sound area and provided maintenance and tenant administration for several apartment complexes in the Seattle and Bremerton area.

He will be lovingly remembered for being generous to friends in need.

Richard is survived by his sister Jennifer and his brother Donald, Jr.

Services and interment will be held at a later date.
