long-time resident of Bainbridge Island, transcended on February 19th , leaving a loving family and his dog, Max.He spent his childhood in the Los Angeles area, enlisted in the Navy at 17, and later graduated from Occidental College with a degree in Economics.Dick and a good friend began their careers with Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. They left to found Incentive Industries which grew into a highly successful mid-sized corporation. After selling the company in 1978, he went back to school at the Art Center College of Design. He became an architectural photographer, and taught college photography.He was an enthusiastic sportsman and competitor in football, tennis, beach volleyball, surfing and biking. He led YMCA youth groups and spent vacations as a camp leader and swimming instructor, teaching young people the excitement in life.Upon moving to Bainbridge Island in 1990, he took up golf and played bridge with friends from Wing Point Golf Club, and also served as a member of the board. Sculpturing wood into art pieces became his creative pastime. He and Caroline traveled extensively around the world, scuba diving and taking photographs.He is leaves his wife, Caroline, son Scott Clucas (Meika), daughters Vicki Varghese (Tom) and Ruth Caron (Tony); grandchildren, Kurt and Alex Caron, Jamie Brouwer, Anna and David Varghese, and Kion Clucas; great grandchildren, Eli, Jonah, Chloe, Tyler and Jordan.His great wish was for the world to share his love for dogs.
