Robert Ellis Stevenson

November 25, 1988 — December 26, 2019

Robert Ellis Stevenson, at 31 years of age, passed away while in prayer on December 26, 2019. He was the kindest and most thoughtful of souls. Born on November 25, 1988, his sensitive nature developed into a deep awareness of the pains and troubles associated with this world.

Robert, a 2007 graduate of Bainbridge High School, is well remembered for being the lefty pitcher who assisted his 2001 baseball team to the Little League World Series, where they took great pride in representing the Pacific Northwest. One of his many gifts included math and physics; and, upon graduation, he gained early admission into the coveted University of Washington’s Bioengineering Department. Throughout his youth and into adulthood, Robert journaled with frequency, revealing a strong talent for the written word, especially in poetic fashion.

In addition to a keen intellect and pure athleticism, Robert treasured nature most … in all of its many beautiful and wondrous ways. To that end, Robert acquired and lovingly cared for his pet marmoset Rafiki for the past 17 years. He also derived distinct pleasure from time spent in the forests, on the wave-lapping beaches, and absorbing the scenery of his island home.

Robert was passionate about his full-time profession over the last three years as a valued member of the Dragonchain Inc. team in Bellevue. Calling upon his many related skillsets, Robert excelled in his capacity within Special Operations and as their Technical Writer. He thrived on the analytical challenges and the organization’s camaraderie.

Having enriched his family’s lives beyond measure, Robert is survived by parents Greg and Linda, brother and best friend Michael, soon-to-be sister-in-law Rebecca Tuffli, companions Rafiki and dog Kali, paternal grandfather Robert Stevenson and his wife Annie, maternal grandmother Shirley Ellis, four aunts, three uncles, and ten cousins. With his passing, there is comfort in knowing that Robert was greeted with open arms by his beloved grandparents Ronald Ellis and Sandra Stevenson.

For those who would like to embrace the elements with the family, an outdoor remembrance service is scheduled for this coming Saturday, January 4, at 10:30 a.m. in Fort Ward Park – Robert’s Happy Place. Following this service, the Stevensons welcome one and all to an open house at their family home, where light refreshments will be served through mid-afternoon.

Robert’s profoundly heartfelt love for our natural environment is embodied by the Puget Sound Restoration Fund. If you’d like to contribute in Robert’s name, please consider this foundation: https://donations.onecallforall.org/donate/238
