Robert Falgui Ochoa

November 18, 1952 — April 23, 2021

Life is like a landscape dotted with hills, mountains and valleys. Such is the backdrop of the life of a person who was so close and so special to me. Yesterday, after 68 years, he finally emerge from this maze and on to a glorious plain into the arms of his Creator. That person is my younger brother, Robert Falgui Ochoa, who passed away late Friday night without warning after collapsing in bed. It was the end of the road of a lifelong struggle against medical challenges.

It started even when he was still in his mother’s womb. There was a threat to the viability of the pregnancy early on. He was saved by early intervention and had a full term birth. At age 26, he suffered a stroke that almost claimed his life that left him with a wobbly walk. Like the legendary Phoenix, he rose up from the ashes to live a rewarding life. From his hometown of San Fernando, La Union, Philippines, he went on to finish a degree from San Sebastián College in Manila. Took a job at a pharmaceutical company as Medical Sales Rep. Years later he came to the US, got married to his wife, Maria Teresita Carrion. He loved to cook, finished a degree in Culinary Arts. Maria took a job at Bainbridge Island and bought a lovely home in Poulsbo surrounded by several acres of murmuring pines running down a slope to the beach.

Bob had a larger-than-life personality. He has friends he treats with unwavering loyalty, going back to his younger years, all the while acquiring new ones. He was the life and soul of a party, enthusiastically participates, and inspires others to join in. He loved to hit the road, explores around, often with his wife. He will be greatly missed by us all who knew him whose lives he touched and enriched.

Farewell Bob, may you rest in peace. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, April 30, 12:00 noon at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 18943 Caldart Ave NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370. With Love,
