Robert H. Ream

d. June 7, 2008

"Bob", died June 7, 2008 on Bainbridge Island. He was 88.Many of you knew Bob as your friendly heating oil delivery man. He worked for Frank Raab/Standard Oil in Poulsbo, delivering oil to houses in northern Kitsap County for many years (1955-1975) until he retired. He was happiest when driving...... he drove double tanker trucks in Portland, Oregon before moving to Poulsbo in 1955. He never wanted to work in an office, and loved being outdoors.Even though he expected to be a Journalist after graduation, he changed those plans and joined the Navy at an early age to defend our country during World War II. He was stationed aboard the USS Maryland and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was also Past Master of the Lincoln Heights Grange in Poulsbo; a Grange insurance agent; and for many years served as a deacon in the Kingston Christian Church. His hobbies were stamp and coin collecting, and working in the yard. After retiring, he and his wife travelled the U.S.A. from coast to coast in their motorhome... making friends everywhere they stopped. He always had new stories to tell of their travels! A few years ago they returned to live on Bainbridge Island, and liked walking to the Senior Center for lunch most days.He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Ream of Bainbridge Island; his children, Dori Lee Dunkle of Port Hadlock and Martin Ream of Burien, WA; their children Kimberly Miller and Marsha Ream of Bainbridge Island,Danny Clafland of Poulsbo, and Richard Reinsmith of California. Plus, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He will be deeply missed by his many friends and his family. At his request, there will be no public service. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, with a Military Honors Ceremony, at a future date.Memorials may be sent to: PAWS of Bainbridge Island, PO Box 10811, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.... please send a note with the memorial stating "In memory of Bob Ream".
