Robert Michael Alexander Sr. age 68 Lived in Suquamish Washington Last Set, Thursday, March 14, 2019 in Bremerton, Washington of complications of cancer Born May 2, 1950 in Bellingham Washington to Florence Henry and Joseph Solomon, Married on January 31, 1970 to Mary Duggan, at Our Lady Star of Sea, Bremerton WA. He attended Olympic College and attained his associates arts degree. He worked for the Suquamish Tribe for 30 years, first at the Suquamish Liquor Store and then as a Community Health Representative. Bob had a life long love of commercial fishing, that he passed on to his entire family. Bob and Mary were both volunteer EMT's with Suquamish Fire District No. 4, Bob was the Battalion Chief. When the Suquamish Tribe built 2 traveling canoes to participate in Tribal Canoe Journeys, Bob was Skipper of the siʔəm ʔaʔutx̌s. Bob's culture was important to him, he loved to fish, cook and smoke salmon, hang net, carve, and bead. He passed his love of feeding traditional foods to his Suquamish community to his children, and they gather and prepare salmon, clams, crab, oysters for most tribal celebrations.
Preceded by his father Joseph Solomon, his mother Florence Henry, step father Morrie Alexander. He is survived by his wife Mary, his brother Francis (Regina), his children Bob Jr (Trista) , Danielle, Stephanie, Grace, Bill (Charlene) , Kevin (Kassia), Erik, grandchildren, Robert III, Nick, Grace Marie (Christian), River Rock, Ricky, Joseph, Ethan and great grandson Robert VI.
I pray that I may live to fish… until my dying day. And when it comes to my last set, I then most humbly pray: when I'm in the lord's great landing net And peacefully asleep That in His mercy I be judged good enough to keep
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Sunday evening March 17 from 5 to 6 pm followed by a Rosary at 6 pm at St. Peter's Mission 7076 NE South Street Suquamish, WA. A Mass of Resurrection will be offered on Monday March 18, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Peter's. The interment will be made in the adjoining Suquamish Tribal Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
