72, of Little Boston, was born on March 25, 1945 at Pyote Air Force Base, Texas to Lillian Jones (Jackson) and Robert E. "Bob" Jones, and was called home on June 24, 2017 in Poulsbo, Washington.He was a proud Port Gamble S'Klallam tribal member, and a member of the Full Gospel Indian Shaker Church. Mike travelled far and wide with the Shaker Church and the tribal canoe journeys. He made countless friends with his easy laugh and charming personality.Mike's childhood was spent surrounded by loving siblings and many cousins at the family property of his beloved grandmother, Celia Jackson.Mike carried with him the cultural teachings of his people, which he shared freely through the tribal canoe journeys, including the 1989 Paddle to Seattle and the 1993 Journey to Bella Bella. He soon became a staple of the tribal journeys, and a steadfast skipper of his tribe's canoe. He was a prayerful man, a cultural leader, and an avid friend to so many.He is survived by his wife, lifelong companion, and best friend Barbara; children, Mike Jr. & Michelle Jones, John & Toni Jones, George Jones & Kelly, Brenda & Clint Anderson, and Carl Sorenson; siblings Donna, Oliver, and Kevin; grandchildren Mike III, Anthony Sr. (Hannah), Christopher, Brooke, Reuben (Jessie), Miranda (Brandon), Chelsea, Jocelyn, Johnny, Phenix, Jeromy, Casey, Kaylee, Andrew, and Jacob; nephews and nieces; great grandchildren Clara, Anthony Jr., Russell, Makinley, Jace, Mahayla, and Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Karen and Alan, daughters Rhonda and NellieKim, and grandson James. They welcomed him home.A viewing is being held Friday 6/30/2017 from 1-2 p.m in the Port Gamble tribal gym; services will follow at 2 p.m. The family invites you to stay for dinner directly following the services.
