Bob Tull died on September 1, 2024, at age 77, after a nine-month fight with brain cancer. He went peacefully at home on Bainbridge Island, surrounded by his loving family and with a view of his beautiful garden.
Throughout his illness, he remained optimistic and fearless despite surgeries, radiation treatment, chemotherapy, and participation in a clinical trial. Bob was grateful for what he had and never hesitated to express his endless love for his family and friends. His caring and emotive approach to life was an inspiration to everyone around him.
He was a deeply involved parent and partner and a source of endless love and comfort for his wife and two sons. Bob received his PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Buffalo, NY, and spent the first 25 years of his career working in the field of pediatric hematology-oncology, supporting children with cancer and their families. He then worked with physicians and medical clinics to help them develop their leadership and team skills, as well as improve communication between physicians and patients and within clinical teams.
On Bainbridge, Bob was an active member of the community, volunteering with Bainbridge Performing Arts and other organizations. At home, he tended to his beautiful garden with care, which included 32 Japanese maple trees and a bountiful vegetable garden. He loved to bike and loved Seattle sports.
Bob is survived by his wife, two sons, a beautiful three-year-old granddaughter, sister, and brother. He is missed terribly by so many, and his memory will continue to give strength to those who knew him.
Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
