Robert Willmott Keller

passed away on Friday, November 14th, 2014 at Martha and Mary. He was 81 years old. Robert was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 13th, 1933 to Reed Willmott Keller and Phyllis Mary Bruerton.Robert lived a full and happy life. He grew up in Salt Lake City, living on the same block with both sets of grandparents. Robert attended Bringham Young University, served a mission for his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Western Canada, served in the United States Army in Germany and graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a degree in Social Science. Bob regretted that he did not go into teaching, but he did enjoy his years of being in business for himself. His first successful business was Sports USA where he designed clothing for the ski industry. Robert's other business was StreamLine, located on Bainbridge Island, where he designed clothing and equipment for the fly-fishing industry. He was well-known in the fly-fishing world and won awards for his innovative ideas in design.Robert Keller leaves behind; his children Tara (Jay), Scott, Tamra (Francisco), Tiffany, Nicole, Blair (Sam) and Drew, his sisters Jan and Margie, brother-in-laws Boyd and Bob, sister-in-law Megan, many beloved nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his much-loved brother, Wally, and nephew, Bobby.Bob had many passions in life; fly-fishing, skiing, golfing, tennis, politics, reading, opera and ballet. He was a world traveler and loved to engage in conversation with just about anyone! His happiest moments were fly-fishing with his brother Wally and son Scott, or coaching any of his children's sports team. Bob enjoyed many years as Drew's basketball and baseball coach on Bainbridge Island and will be fondly remembered as a kind and supportive coach. Bob loved his family. His fondest memories were of spending time on the Madison River, in Montana, with his father, Reed Keller and grandfather, George Bruerton. Bob had wonderful stories to share about his life growing up near his grandfather Keller's farm with his sisters and brother.Bob was proud of all of his children, and took considerable delight in all of their intellectual and athletic pursuits! Robert adored his wife, Karen, who he was married to for 32 years They shared many happy years engaging in all kind of adventures!Bob's family will remember him for long road trips to his favorite area in the world: Yellowstone National Park, his various breakfast specials, including scrambled eggs and angle worms, long talks and great stories, warm jackets with lots of zippers, his love of musicals, at any venue, but especially the Playmill Theater, his many, patient lessons teaching all of them to master the sports of tennis, fly-fishing, and skiing. Bob will be missed by many!Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Bainbridge Island Ward, 8677 Madison Ave NE on Bainbridge Island. A reception will follow in the church hall until 2:45 PM. All may attend the internment service at Port Blakely Cemetery at 3:00 PM also on the Island.
