Ronald Morgan Henshaw, 75, died July 30, 2023, from complications of aortic aneurism surgery.
Ron grew up on Bainbridge Island. His youthful passion and energy reflected the tumultuous 60’s and 70’s. As an activist and organizer Ron fought against the Vietnam War on the home front. He lived in a commune, experimented with organic gardening, alternative eating habits and studied meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Throughout his life he was an ardent environmentalist. Ron was deeply concerned by and sought meaningful answers to the problems facing humankind. He attended Evergreen State College and Antioch University in Seattle but was primarily self educated. His versatile work history reflects his free spirit. He had an amazing memory and his stories were legendary,
including a behind the scenes look at the Seattle Pop Festival in 1969, with Chuck Berry. Always inventive and open to the beauty life has to offer, he loved music, movies, food, nature and above all his friends and family, who knew him to have a kind heart and a brilliant mind.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Kristine Henshaw, his brothers Dan, Brian and Bill Henshaw, his sister Patti Henshaw, his cousins Kay and Ward Henshaw, and George, Bill and Richard Teasdale. He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Mickey Henshaw. With his passing, the world has lost a shining beacon of joyfulness and hope but he will forever be held in our hearts.
A celebration of his life will be held at Ollie and Janice Pedersen’s on September 24th at 2 PM.
