Bainbridge Island

Ronald “Ron” Roy Wacker (86), son of Roy and Evelyn Wolfe Wacker, passed away on April 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after an eight-year battle with myelofibrosis (cancer).

Ron is survived by his wife Carol Schlatter Wacker of 54 years and his daughter Diana Wacker Moore, son-in-law James Moore, along with their two children Everett Moore and Carlyn Moore of Bainbridge Island, Washington, and by his son Michael Wacker, daughter-in-law Ann Wacker, and their daughter Josephine Wacker of Oakwood, Ohio. He is also survived by three brothers: Duane Wacker of Minnesota, Lowell (Peggy) Wacker of Michigan, and Jeff (Sue) Wacker of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Lilian Wacker, nephew Matthew Wacker, and great-nephew Owen Sommerfeld.

Ron was born in Ohio and was a graduate of Midview High School and Wooster College. He started working as a science teacher for several years before spending most of his career as an application and design hydraulics engineer, primarily with the Gates Corporation in Denver, Colorado. His career took him from Ohio to Illinois and then Colorado. In retirement, Ron and Carol cherished living close to their daughter and grandchildren while enjoying their time in the Pacific Northwest in Washington State.

Ron enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hiking, backpacking, fishing, biking, and gardening. He was passionate about the environment, education, and above all else, family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Bainbridge Land Trust (https://www.bi-landtrust.org/).
