passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Washington State Veteran's Home in Retsil, Washington. She was born on December 24, 1934 in White Salmon, WA.She graduated from Woodland High School in 1952 and was awarded a diploma in nursing from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon in 1955. For five years after graduation she worked as a charge nurse in medicine and in the emergency room at Providence Hospital in Portland. In 1960 Rosie was commissioned a Lieutenant, junior grade in the naval reserves. She attended Officer Introduction School at Newport, Rhode Island and was assigned to the U.S Naval hospital, Camp Pendleton as a staff nurse. In November 1962, Commander Nehr augmented into the regular Navy. In 1963 she was reassigned to the naval hospital, Fleet Activities, Sasebo, Japan. While assigned to Sasebo, Commander Nehr was selected for full-time duty under instruction to pursue a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing at the University of Oregon. She received a M.A. in Guidance and counseling from Roosevelt University in Chicago. Selected for full-time duty under instruction on the graduate level, Rosie attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a M.A. in Nursing Service Administration in 1975.Rosie Nehr was awarded the following decorations: The National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Civil Action's Medal First Class with Palm, and the Vietnam Service Medal.Rosie was dearly loved by her friends and family and she will be greatly missed! She is survived by her brother Richard C. Nehr, her sister in law Julie Nehr, and her nieces Tami Reuter, Kim Baldwin and Jennifer Nehr. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 1:00 pm at North Bay Community Lutheran Church in Allyn, WA.
