Ruth Elizabeth Lund

passed away peacefully New Year's morning at Martha & Mary surrounded by her loving family. She was 87, born on July 21, 1928. She is in heaven with her parents Gus and Ellen Lund, her brother Andrew Lund, and her sister Mary Ellen Lund.Ruthie was born and raised on Bainbridge Island and grew up in Eagledale. She was a wonderful cook and very famous for her pies. She was a kind and gracious person, wonderful and sweet to everyone. She was a proud grandma and great-grandma.Ruth graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1946. She worked in Seattle at The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for a few years. In 1952, she married Ed Jernigan and they later divorced in 1970. Ruthie then worked at Town & Country Market for 20 years and made many friends. She enjoyed being a grocery checker and loved everyone at the market. She was known for her smile, her kindness and genuine care of her customers. After retirement, Ruth enjoyed her family, her flowers and friends. Her companion, Ron Steele, were regulars at T&C coffee shop. Ruth loved her family dearly. She was a great influence and had a wonderful faith that kept our family together. She is survived by her daughter Pam Raber (Curt), daughter Sandy Bellinger (Rob), son Randy Jernigan (Candy), her grandchildren Andy Raber (Megan), Charity Fox (Craig), Daniel Jernigan, Robert Bellinger, her great grandson Owen Fox (Charity & Craig), her three sisters Marguerette Sears, Martha Lund, Jean Springer, and her companion Ron Steele.Ruthie is so loved and will be greatly missed, but we know she is with the Lord and at peace.Celebration of Life services will be 1:00 pm February 6, 2016 at the First Baptist Church on Bainbridge Island.
