Sharon Elaine (Clements) Charles was born to Wilma and Arthur Clements on March 13, 1947, in Tacoma, Washington. She died on October 30, 2020—a great loss to her family and many others. She grew up in Centralia, Washington with brothers, Phillip, Bob, and Gary, and lifelong best friend Cheryl Towne.
On February 26, 1966, she married the love of her life, Ron Charles. Together they raised four daughters in Little Boston. Sharon was the best wife, mother, and grandmother; she spent much of her time caring for others. She cherished family time most. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren liked visiting her house and sleeping over. She enjoyed shopping for her family and spoiling them with gifts. She loved joking and laughing. She had a great sense of humor and rarely complained. She was known in her community for being kind and making others feel special. For family or community dinners, she always cooked something delicious, like frybread or cobbler.
She worked at Wolfle Elementary and seasonally in the cannery or the holly farm in her younger years. For many years she kept records for her husband’s salmon and geoduck fishing business. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, trivia, home improvement, decorating, shopping, gambling, taking drives, and traveling. She loved holidays, including Halloween and Christmas, and hosted many dinners, birthday parties, and showers. She rarely missed small or large family occasions—school concerts, assemblies, preschool special weeks, graduations, births, weddings, gymnastic meets, sports games, or matches—she was there.
Sharon is survived by a large, loving family: husband Ron Charles, brother Gary Clements, children Michelle & Mike Jones, Marlo Charles & Tony Seachord, Angie Charles & Adrian Alegria, Christina Charles & Bill Ives, and later she gained another daughter in Angela Sullivan. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Mikie Jones & Shelly Washburn, Anthony & Hannah Jones, Chris Jones & Brooke Wellman, Reuben Smith & Jessie Lemickson, Miranda & Brandon Halsey, Zack Charles & Melissa Windisch, Andrea & Jered Murphy, Seth Alegria, Brady Chadwick, Tyler Chadwick, Alex Moff, Lily Moff and great-grandchildren Damien, Clara, Bentley, Anthony Jr, Kaleb, Russell, Makinley, Karlee, Jered Jr, and Belle. Extended family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, were also important to her. She was predeceased by her parents, stepfather Ben Browning, brothers Phillip and Bob Clements, and grandson James Smith.
In accordance with Sharon’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
