Susan Annette Casey

Susan Annette Casey was born on June 10, 1946, in Starbuck, Minnesota to Frank and Doris Smedstad (Ness). Sue passed away on June 29, 2023, on Bainbridge Island, Washington at the age of 77. She graduated from Starbuck High School in Starbuck, Minnesota in 1964 and attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where she earned her teaching certificate. She married her husband Michael D. Casey on July 14, 1973, in Starbuck, Minnesota. Mike and Sue went on to raise their family in Denver, Colorado. Susan worked as Administrative Support for Balarat Outdoor Ed within the Denver Public School System in Colorado and retired after 14 years with them. She was also an awesome mom and a patient caregiver. She will be greatly missed.

Sue was a member of the Sons of Norway and Trollheim Bells and enjoyed quilting, gardening and loved reading and puzzles. She was a great piano player.

Sue was a joy to those she chose to befriend. She lived many adventures and in each she made lasting friendships. If you knew her you were blessed.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years Michael D. Casey, sons Aaron Casey and Ryan Casey, and brothers Tom Smedstad and Scott Smedstad. She also leaves behind 1 grandchild, Archer Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Doris Smedstad and brothers Bruce Smedstad and Stephen Smedstad.

Inurnment will take place in Colorado at Crown Hill Cemetery. Date to be determined.
