Susan Maureen (Wight) Westby, of Poulsbo, Washington, passed peacefully away July 03, 2019, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Washington at the age of 72.
She was born in Tacoma, Washington on February 18, 1947, the oldest of four daughters, of Ralph and Betty Wight. She was a 1965 graduate of Franklin Pierce High School.
Sue married Michael Westby, August 26, 1967, whom she had known since grade school. Together they raised two sons, Chris and Steve.
She spent 28 years employed by Martha & Mary Nursing Home and retired holding a deep regard for the staff and their mission of care. She gave to her community while serving on the Poulsbo City Planning Commission.
More than an avid reader across her life; she likely read the equivalent of at least half a library. She was the family historian taking great pride in her genealogy research. She always loved helping others explore their ancestry. A self-proclaimed Travel Queen, she and Mike loved to travel, visiting most of the USA, Guam, New Zealand, and many European countries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Betty; sister, Linda Wight. She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, Mike Westby of Poulsbo; her two children, Chris (Kim) Westby of Poulsbo, Steve (Tanya) Westby of Bremerton; her two beloved grandchildren, Mikayla and Connor Westby of Poulsbo; two sisters, Pat Garrison, and Nancy Gliege; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Sue's life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the Poulsbo Library, 700 NE Lincoln Rd, Poulsbo, Washington.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island.
