passed away from complications of cancer while peacefully sleeping at his home on Friday, December 3, 2010 with his wife at his side. He was born on December 16, 1931 in San Francisco, California to Batista J. and Adele Maberto. He was 78 years of age.Vincent was self-employed throughout his life.and retired in 1995. He was a Veteran with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of The American Legion Post 68, the Excapees RV Club and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Vincent was an avid biker, birder, crabber, golfer, hiker, storyteller, traveler, devoted friend, faithful, generous, selfless and honorable. Prior to his death Vincent stated, "God has me going down a long road and when He calls I will go to Him." He is now at peace.He is survived by his wife Alvia Maberto of Bainbridge Island, WA, his son Bradley Maberto (Christine) of El Dorado Hills, CA, sister Clara Steen of Porterville, CA, and brother Ed Maberto (Emily) of Stockton, CA. He also leaves behind his grandsons Bailey and Cameron Maberto of El Dorado Hills, CA, his step children Erik Clineschmidt of Bainbridge Island and Todd Clineschmidt (Heather) of Seattle, WA. Also his nephew David Steen, grand nephew and grand niece Randy and Carly Steen all of Porterville, CA, niece Elaine Swope (Mathew) of Lodi, CA, grand nephew Michael Swope (Kelli) of Fernly, Nevada, grand nephew Anthony Swope of Stockton, CA, niece Edele Norman (Rob) of Stockton, CA, grand nephews William, Neal and Kent Norman of Stockton, CA and niece Elise Maberto and grand niece Courtney Maberto of Fernandina Beach, Florida.He was preceded in death by his mother Adele Maberto, father Batista John Maberto, grand nephew Vincent Steen, grand nephew Mark Steen and daughter Gina Maberto.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. A reception will follow at the church's Conger Hall. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Doctors William P. Hammond and Michael N. Hayden and the nurses and staff of Swedish Hospital in Seattle, WA for their excellent care of Vincent. Please sign the online Guest Book for the family.
