loving Matriarch, 81, of Little Boston, WA died February 17, 2008.Born in Little Boston, WA on February 17, 1927, Virginia was the daughter of the late Foster and Clara (George) Jones, and an enrolled member of the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe; in 1943 she attended North Kitsap High School, followed by a commercial cook degree in 1969 from Edison Technical College. Virginia's working career included dinner cook, Tribal Community Aide, Job Developer, and Tribal Historian. Virginia served on numerous tribal committees including, Election, Enrollment, Planning, Personnel, Law and Order, Education, Health Board, and Housing Authority.Virginia was an instructor in Native American herbal medicines and she enriched all of our lives with beautiful pieces of Native American art pieces such as beadwork, regalia, moccasins, button blankets, shawls and so much more. She loved all types of arts and crafts and she had an enthusiastic long-lasting love for Elvis Presley.Virginia is survived by her children; James Ives Sr. of Nespelem , WA; Gary Ives, of Bridgeport WA; Carol Pagaduan , Ben Ives Sr. Edna Ives, Danette Ives, Claire Ives, and Roman Ives, all of Kingston WA; Marion F. Ives, William Ives Sr.; Martina Thrasher, and Clara Ives all of Eastern WA. She is also survived by a sister, Geneva Ives of Kingston WA and six brothers; William Jones SR; Floyd Jones, Daniel Jones, Gerald Jones, Donald Jones Sr.; and Gene Jones, 41 grandchildren, 61 great, grandchildren, 11 great, great grandchildren.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Candle Light Service on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 7:00 PM at The Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribal Center Gym, 31912 Little Boston Road in Kingston, Washington (map). There will be a Memorial Service held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 1:00 PM also at the Gym.Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
