"Pete" Daily passed away March 31 on Bainbridge Island, WA after a long illness. Pete was born in Donophan, MO in 1936, but moved to Fellows, CA (near Bakersfield) when he was six years old. There, he attended Taft High School playing Football and Baseball, graduating in 1955. Pete attended Taft College and Humbolt State University, majoring in forestry. At Humbolt, he met and married Shirley June Ross. Pete went on to work for the U.S. Forest Service, retiring in 1995 after more than 30 years of service. Pete wore a happy smile, was always ready and willing to lend a hand to anyone, and enjoyed many things in life: sports (especially golf), fishing, camping, and horses. He was an advocate for persons with disabilities, and enjoyed the fellowship of his church brethren, most recently at North Kitsap Baptist Church in Poulsbo, WA. Pete is survived by his wife Shirley, his son Steve, daughter Carol (Wood), son-in-law Rob Wood, and grandsons Sean and Kelsey Wood of Bainbridge Island, WA. A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
