"Bill", a 94 year old native of Bainbridge Island, died Thursday, March 20th at Messenger House Care Center. Bill was born July 30th 1913 to Fred and Eliza Weld who had settled on Bainbridge Island from the East Coast in 1907. The Weld family included five sons and two daughters. Bill was the last to die. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Kennedy-Weld.Following graduation from Bainbridge High School in 1932 Bill attended the University of Washington and received his Bachelor's Degree majoring in Journalism. He was a life long photographer, but also enjoyed adventures in real estate, boating, hiking and camping, and especially designing and building his own home. Bill will be remembered by family and friends as one who could build or fix anything, and was always ready to lend a hand when problems arose.Bill is survived by his daughter Patricia (Robert) Wyman of Bainbridge Island, and two grandsons, Robert (Brandi) Wyman Jr of Seattle, and Christopher Wyman of Bainbridge Island. He also is survived by nieces and nephews Sam (Leah) Weld of Port Orchard, Grace (Jim) Rickard of Borrego Springs, California, Suzanne (Rich) Orr of Port Angeles, Anne (Wayne) Weld-Martin of Aloha, Oregon, and Gail Vanderhoof of Green Valley, Arizona. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 2:00pm at Rollingbay Presbyterian Church on Bainbridge Island. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Weld Family Scholarship Fund at Bainbridge High School.Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
