passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Island Health & Rehabilitation on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was 83 years of age and a resident of Kingston, WA.William was born in Great Falls Montana to Samuel and Clara McMillan. The family later moved to the Seattle area where he attended school and assisted his father in the building of medium-priced residences. In 1943 he entered military service as an Army Engineer Corps carpenter-technician. During his overseas service he spent several months as battalion photographer, utilizing an interest in photography developed as a youth. After the war he married Maira Annable. At the time of her death they had been married over 50 years.In 1946 he entered the University of Washington where he earned a BA in Speech. While at the University William was very active in radio broadcasts, films and programs supplied by the speech and communications departments to local Lions Clubs, Rotarians etc. He worked for and retired from the City of Seattle as a property manager.They were residents of Kingston for over 30 years. He was an avid carpenter and kept busy with remodeling projects. In retirement, he and Maira spent their winters in Palm Springs, CA where they were active in the Christian Science Church.He'll be laid to rest next to Maira at Tahoma National Cemetery May 4, 2007 at 12:30. William requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be sent to First Church of Christ Scientist 605 S. Riverside Drive Palm Springs, CA 92264.Arrangements made by Kass and Cook Family Funeral Home.
